I am a master's level career counselor and coach and specialize in career and work related issues. I am also a licensed professional counselor and although I do not work as a therapist, my work can often have the added benefit of improved well being since career and work related issues can increase stress, anxiety, depression and our overall health.
My approach to career coaching and counseling is to see career as one of the many important roles in our lives. In order for a career to be satisfying it needs to support and work with all the other areas of your life. My approach is active and individualized to help you make maximum progress and often includes homework or assessments to promote insights and progress.
I am in private practice in Asheville, NC and see clients in person and also work remotely with clients nationwide. Prior to opening my private practice I worked for many years in higher education supporting students and adults making career and academic transitions.
I am also a Career Changer
After a successful career in the entertainment business in New York City and Los Angeles, I realized that I needed more meaning in my career and went back to graduate school to study career counseling. I was fortunate during this time to work as a corporate recruiter for large and small organizations. Understanding job search from the company's perspective has been particularly useful in helping client's craft job search strategies that produce results.
